Thanks for suggestion. Could you describe in more detail what you mean? What kind of search pattern you would need most? Simple search, advanced search, a high-level pattern that would describe all search types or what?
For example here is a good collection of different search patterns: http://www.flickr.com/photos/morville/collections/72157603785835882/

hierarchy navigation
Perhaps based on the original Windows 3.1 file manager, or more recently on many of Apple's products, a hierarchy of folders (or other containers) at the left, and clickable nodes display the content at the right. See iTunes as the most ubiquitous example, but it is used for countless desktop software applications or web sites that have a user-editable hierarchy, including drag & drop for moving either nodes or containers, rename (in place) of nodes or containers, and reflection of the node title in the title of the content at right.
1 voteThanks, this a very common pattern and will end up in the library sooner or later.

Good idea, but I’m afraid portal pattern would be too general to be useful. But there are already few patterns that help in desiging a portal, like Information Dashboard and Content Groups.

Language Selector
A language selector is different - as it poses the additional challenge to be displayed in your language versus my language versus all languages available!
